Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-01 — effective October 1, 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms govern use of the Pair Companion website, desktop applications, Android companion, licensing services, and updates. By purchasing, activating, or using the product, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally able to enter this agreement and meet the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for the accuracy of information supplied at checkout.

3. License, passes, and free trial

Before purchasing you may use the desktop application for a free trial of 30 minutes of use per computer, metered by the licensing service; the trial may be limited, changed or withdrawn at any time. While your subscription or fixed access period is active, Pair Companion grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software on one active computer, plus a compatible Android device used as its companion. A 7-Day Pass must be activated within 30 days of purchase and its seven-day access period begins on first activation. Ownership of the software and brand remains with Pair Companion.

4. Device binding and transfers

A license is bound to one active computer using a pseudonymous device identifier. Legitimate transfers may be subject to cooldown periods and annual limits. Support may require reasonable evidence of ownership before an exceptional transfer.

5. Your AI provider

You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining a compatible Claude Code or Codex account. AI provider availability, quotas, models, output, and policies are outside Pair Companion’s control. Pair Companion does not guarantee any particular answer, response time, or provider feature.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use the product to:

• Violate interview, examination, employment, confidentiality, or platform rules.
• Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, authorship, or work where disclosure or independent performance is required.
• Capture or process another person’s audio or personal data without an appropriate legal basis or required notice.
• Infringe intellectual property, privacy, trade-secret, or other rights.
• Share, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, bypass licensing, or interfere with security controls except where local law expressly permits.
• Use the service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive activity.

7. Screen-capture behavior

Capture exclusion is provided through available operating-system APIs. It is not guaranteed to work with every conferencing, recording, monitoring, or OS configuration. You must test your setup and must not treat visual exclusion as proof that use is permitted or impossible to detect.

8. Purchases, subscriptions, billing, and refunds

Stripe processes payments on behalf of Pair Companion. Prices, access periods, billing intervals, applicable taxes, accepted payment methods, the legal seller, and renewal information are shown at checkout. The 7-Day Pass is a one-time purchase and does not renew. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Cancellation affects future renewals and does not erase obligations already incurred. Refunds, cancellation effects, non-refundable payment costs on discretionary refunds, and payment disputes are governed by the Refund & Cancellation Policy, without limiting mandatory consumer rights.

9. Updates and changes

We may provide fixes, security updates, interface changes, or compatibility changes. Features can evolve, and preview functionality may be changed or removed. Material subscription changes will be communicated where required.

10. Your content

You retain rights in content you provide. You represent that you have permission to process it. You instruct the software to transmit selected content to your chosen AI provider and understand that the provider’s separate terms apply.

11. Availability and disclaimers

The product is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent allowed by law. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, error-free transcription, correct AI output, successful interviews, employment outcomes, or compatibility with every third-party service. Always review AI-generated content before relying on it.

12. Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by applicable law, Pair Companion is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost opportunities, lost profits, loss of data, employment decisions, or third-party account actions. Any aggregate liability is limited to amounts paid for the service during the previous twelve months, except where such a limitation is prohibited.

13. Suspension and termination

Access may be suspended or terminated for payment failure, a refunded payment, an open chargeback, license abuse, security risk, or material breach. A license suspended only because of a payment dispute may be restored if the dispute is resolved in our favor and the subscription remains valid. You may stop using the product and cancel renewal at any time.

14. Governing terms

These terms are offered by the legal seller identified during Stripe Checkout and on the payment receipt, based in Brazil, under the Pair Companion brand. Stripe processes payments but is not the seller of the software. These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil; mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live continue to apply and are not limited by these terms. Contact: support@paircompanion.com.
