Understands the screen
Capture one screen or a sequence. Pair Companion distinguishes coding challenges, questionnaires, debugging sessions, and everyday work.
Visual contextPrivate AI guidance, in your flow
Pair Companion understands what is on your screen and what is being discussed, then turns that context into clear, useful guidance while you work.
Works with the Claude Code or Codex subscription you already have: no API keys, no AI usage bill from us. One of those subscriptions is required. Every download includes a free 30-minute trial, no card required.
What you need
It signs in through those tools' own local login, never through model API keys, so there is no AI usage bill from Pair Companion and no extra AI cost for you. In return, an active Claude Code (Anthropic) or Codex (OpenAI/ChatGPT) subscription is required: without one of them installed and signed in on your computer, Pair Companion cannot generate answers. The Pair Companion subscription only covers the app itself.
Pair Companion has no access to your Claude or OpenAI account and never asks for passwords, tokens or API keys. It simply uses the Claude Code or Codex tool you already installed and signed in to on your computer: your context goes to that tool, the answer comes back, and nothing passes through our servers.
One context, multiple signals
Pair Companion brings together the pieces that ordinary chat windows make you repeat.
Capture one screen or a sequence. Pair Companion distinguishes coding challenges, questionnaires, debugging sessions, and everyday work.
Visual contextTranscribe microphone and computer audio, retain the thread, and generate suggestions without treating every sentence as a new question.
Conversation memoryAdd your experience, preferred HR answers, role context, and writing style so suggestions sound grounded instead of generic.
Personal contextA fast model can produce a natural opening while a stronger model develops the full answer in the background.
Two-stage responseA movable, resizable, click-through overlay with adjustable opacity keeps the answer readable without taking over your workspace.
Focused overlayPair Companion runs through the local login of Claude Code or Codex. It never calls model APIs with its own keys, does not resell tokens and adds no usage-based AI charge. One of those subscriptions is required.
Bring your subscriptionContext that compounds
Choose what Pair Companion should remember. Previous questions, your corrected answers, a role description, and the current company can all improve the next suggestion without becoming a permanent black box.

Emphasize ownership, tradeoffs, mentoring, and pragmatic delivery.
The interviewer prioritized regional availability and gradual migration.
Android companion
The Android app is a private remote for the desktop Pair Companion. Keep the overlay hidden or minimal on the computer you are sharing and follow the answers on a tablet beside you, over your local network.
On the computer open Connect tablet… in the Pair Companion menu, then type the address, port and pairing code into the tablet app. Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi; nothing goes through the internet.
Responses stream to the tablet as they are generated. Move between answers with Previous and Next, read them one at a time or as a continuous thread, and scroll the desktop panel with the trackpad area.
Start or stop transcription and Auto AI, switch the session mode, ask for an answer now, send a typed instruction, or attach the screen with With screen. Show, hide, move or center the desktop overlay without touching the keyboard.
Screenshots and your Claude Code or Codex login stay on the desktop. Only commands, progress and the answer text travel to the tablet, over an authenticated connection.
I’d start by clarifying the scale and the consistency requirements, because those two decisions shape the rest of the design.

No, and it does not need to: Pair Companion works through the Claude Code or Codex account you already have, using their own local login rather than model API keys. That is why there is no AI usage bill from us. It also means an active Claude Code (Anthropic) or Codex (OpenAI/ChatGPT) subscription is required; without one, Pair Companion cannot produce answers.
Pair Companion uses supported operating-system capture-exclusion APIs. Behavior can vary by operating system and conferencing app, so always validate your exact setup before relying on it.
Each license is bound to one active computer. Device transfers are allowed through a controlled process to prevent continuous license sharing.
Profiles, preferences, and session history are stored locally by the desktop app. Temporary screenshots are removed after analysis. See the Privacy Policy for the full data map.
You are responsible for following the interviewer's instructions, platform rules, and applicable policies. Pair Companion is also designed for preparation, mock interviews, take-home work, meetings, and general focused work.
